Clay reveals the intense features of Huehueteotl, the first god of the Aztecs. One of the most respected, he is the old god, the god of fire, the god that gave rise to the other deities in the pre-Hispanic pantheon. On his head, a tray holds glowing embers while his wrinkled visage attest to the god's great age. Artisans from the Angel Cerón Artisan Association masterfully recreate this important icon from Mexico's pre-Hispanic past.

A unique fusion of Maya and Toltec styles, the chac mool depicts a reclining person holding a bowl. The first such figures were discovered in the late 1800s in a number of sites in Yucatán. Thought to depict sacrificial victims, the bowls received offerings to the gods – perhaps even human hearts. Angel Cerón recreates the enigmatic image in an exquisite ceramic sculpture.

This adorable doll will make a beautiful gift for newborns, kids, and adults alike. Graciela Orozco takes inspiration from traditional Mexican rag dolls - known as Maria dolls - to create this charming ceramic sculpture.

The charming doll originated in Mexico City when many Otomi and Mazahua people migrated to the capital in the 1970s. Due to their unique traditional clothing, the women became known as "Marias." An educational program was established for them and artist Diego Rivera's daughter, Guadalupe Rivera Marin, encouraged crafting these popular rag dolls as a way to generate income in the 1980s. Artisan women took the idea home to their Mazahua and Otomi towns and the dolls became popular throughout Mexico and abroad.

This gleaming biplane is ready to soar above uncharted lands in an exclusive design by Mexico's Armando Ramirez. This original artist transforms the discarded metal pieces off a die machine into the plane's propellers, spark plug body, and wings. These are held in place with thick wires. The wings' rotors are made from cogs that once were part of a car's electric system. The plane's axis tail is cut from a metal tube. Finally, Ramirez uses screws to simulate the plane's headlights.

Please note it is the artist's intention not to give his sculptures a fine polished finish, therefore smudges and scratches may be present.

Each piece is diligently crafted from ceramic and painted by hand, assembled with steel wire.

This sculpture is a feast for the eyes, full of hand-painted details. Artisan Magdaleno Fierro of Mexico handcrafts this ceramic sculpture in the shape of a tree. At the center is an ark, with Noah, an elephant and a giraffe surrounded by green leaves, and blue, white, and yellow flowers, and terracotta-colored doves with white accents fly about.

The tree of life is a quintessentially Mexican expression of folk art, often a biblical allegory told in clay.
