The wax mixture creates a barrier that keeps the different fill colors in the design separate during firing, before burning off to reveal the blackened ceramic beneath. Great colors and detail. The plate is also much lighter than i expected and also has a hanger attachment. I didn't expect that either. Quite beautiful! I want them all now!
