A Stunning Homage to Día de los Muertos
After visiting Mexico and falling in love with the warmth of its people and the richness of its culture, I began searching for the perfect Catrina—one that truly honored the spirit and artistry of Día de los Muertos. I was looking for something of impressive quality and timeless beauty, and I found exactly that in this piece by Luis Morales. This sculpture is nothing short of magnificent. The craftsmanship is exquisite—formed by hand from clay and painted with meticulous care in vibrant shades of red, silver, gold, and blue. The figure has an undeniable presence; she's elegant, dignified, and deeply expressive. Every time I look at her, I’m reminded of the beauty of Mexican traditions and the artistry that keeps them alive. This sculpture proudly graces my mantel and continues to spark admiration from everyone who sees it.
Ordered for our fire department
I head our local fire safe council, and I couldn't resist this sculpture for our fire department, which we work closely with. In fact, I went back and ordered more because our chief loved it and thought we could make it the basis of an annual award to a firefighter or fire prevention staff member. A friend who's a woodworker is going to make redwood bases for them, so we can get a trophy shop to engrave and mount descriptions. This is all very exciting!
