Love this beautiful Snoozing Cat
Lovingly crafted and beautiful artistry, I placed my snoozing cat in one of the cubbies of my roll top desk, she makes me smile. Was wonderfully wrapped also with a good spirit headdress on the outside of the package, which I saved and placed in a picture frame.
Striking Work of Art
Beautiful colors and imagination! The Cat of the Moon and Water is a great companion to The Cat of the Sun.
Nengah Sudarsana Hand-carved wood art
"From an early age I loved natural things – plants, animals, birds or sea life… I particularly want to create wildlife and other animal themes in an exact, realistic and original way…."
Working with you has created a much better life for me and my family. Before, I could hardly afford to live in a single room home. Now I live in a house with three rooms, and have my own car. Most importantly, I now support many other artisans who work with me. My family... read more

Mexican Alebrije Cat Sculpture, "Playful Blue Kitten"
A whimsical blue kitten romps and plays. Zeny and Reyna transform found pieces of copal wood into a delightful cat. These fanciful sculptures are a traditional folk art in Oaxaca, once based on twenty totems but today representing all kinds of animals. They take their name from a Calo gypsy word for "something difficult, tangled, confusing or fantastic."
Because each alebrije is an individually created work of folk art, shapes will vary slightly. Small parts are separated for shipping to protect from breakage.
Wood Alebrije Figurine Cat in Green from Mexico, "Cat Stretch"
Stretching out its body, this cute cat adds a touch of Mexican folk art to any space. Jesus and Roxana Hernandez hand-carve the little from copal wood. It features intricate hand-painted designs in tones of green and blue. Small parts are separated for shipping to protect from breakage.
Alebrijes are a fairly recent Mexican art form, attributed to Pedro Linares. Unconscious due to illness in 1936, he was presumed near death and yet his dreams were extremely vivid. He tells of a place where all was peaceful and quiet until all of a sudden there appeared a lion with an eagle's head, a rooster with bull's horns and a donkey with butterfly wings. They kept screeching "alebrije, alebrije!" and Pedro began running away. He encountered a man who told him it was not yet his time to be there are and he should continue running towards the exit. In this dream Pedro climbed out of a window and regained consciousness.
Hand Carved Kitty Cat Sculpture in Medium Wood Finish, "Watchful Ginger Cat"$57.99
The warm natural color of suar wood lends itself perfectly to this sculpture of a watchful ginger cat. Nengah Sudarsana of Bali carves the kitty by hand, capturing every detail right down to the whiskers.
Please note: The sculpture is intended to be placed on the edge of a shelf or table so that it hangs over the side.
