Details

Wiasi ben ni means "what a world" in the Akan language, and is the name Juliana Akandas confers on this exquisite sculpture design. Its sinuous line and airy, abstract form bring a contemporary grace to the work. "Our world is full of mystery," Akandas comments, portraying a person deep in thought. The statuette is carved from African sese wood with applications of sea sand and brass repoussé.
