Delivery EstimateLord Ai Aepec appears standing on an orb with clasped hands looking toward the heavens. He has feline fangs and he is flanked by snakes. The orb is adorned with a mollusk and vessel as symbols of the food and water provided by this Moche deity. José Acosta crafts an extraordinary huaco sculpture as he masters ceramic techniques to create the illusion of an aged piece. Through his art Acosta honors ancient beliefs in which Ai Aepec is deemed the lord creator and protector of the Moche people, provider of food and water, as well as of military triumphs. He was greatly revered as well as feared, for it was believed that this blood-thirsty god demanded the sacrifice of young warriors.
