In western Java, the city of Karawang is known for a traditional type of dance using masks and colorful costumes. Sujiman pays homage to that dance with this mask. Carved from pule wood, this mask depicts a princess wearing a floral headdress that is painted entirely by hand. The mask is displayed on a wood base that is detailed with traditional hand-painted batik motifs. It is not removable.
