A dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit as it poses on a stylized cross. The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Holy Trinity, a symbol of the Christian faith. The sweet white bird holds a leafy branch, alluding to the biblical story of Noah and the ark. After the earth was flooded by 40 days and nights of rain, Noah released a bird. Each time, it returned. When the bird finally flew back to the ark carrying a twig bearing leaves, Noah knew that the world could once more sustain life.
