Kwasi Asante in Ghana designs and crafts this remarkable decorative vessel, which features an imposing elephant holding up the lidded jar. The sculpture is carved by hand from sese wood, and engraved with the gye nyame adinkra symbol, which represents the omnipotence of God.
Adinkra symbols are visual symbols used by the Asante peoples of Ghana. They represent common philosophies or proverbs, which have an important role in West African culture.
