Hand Carved Sese Wood Elephant Accent Table from Ghana, "Magnificent Elephant"

Artisan Stanley Kennedy Ahia of Ghana says, "I get my inspiration from the natural things around me." For this table, the woodcarver chooses one of the largest members of the animal kingdom, the elephant, as his central design motif. Painted in rich brown shades, the tabletop depicts a noble elephant in a jungle setting, and elements of this same theme appear in the table's pedestal stand which has a large leaf carved in the middle and is made to resemble a tree trunk.
