Delivery EstimateA playful hummingbird seeks out the sweet nectar of flowers in an alebrije sculpture designed to hang from the ceiling. Zeny and Reyna transform found pieces of copal wood into a delightful alebrije. These fanciful sculptures are a traditional folk art in Oaxaca, once based on twenty totems but today representing all kinds of animals. They take their name from a Calo gypsy word for "something difficult, tangled, confusing or fantastic."
Includes a thread for hanging.
Because each alebrije is individually created work of folk art, shapes will vary slightly. Small parts are separated for shipping to protect from breakage.

"Beautiful and adjustable!"
I have seen a great many works of art, and your hummingbirds are some of the prettiest. They make me smile each time I see them, and draw constant compliments. I have all four colors and would love to see more: maybe bright yellow, light blue, lilac, gray, copper? And maybe beaks of different lengths and angles. I have moved the wings so some have big feathers in front, others in back or in the middle. They hang from my office ceiling, all at different heights. Thank you for creating such beautiful things!

"Colourful Addition"
Well decorated and colourful. It was missing a pair of feather mounting holes so I have two feathers left over. However, it still looks attractive without those feathers.

"Wow! Such amazing detials!"
I knew as soon as I saw this treasure I had to buy it! -- Painted with the wisdom of turtles (just one symbolism for turtles). Now they also have available a blue bull with fish! So tempting! The painting details and carving of the bull are just incredible. Perfection! I am always in awe when I receive these pieces from Zeny and Reyna. So happy to see that more of their artworks are available here on Novica.
