Kwasi Asante in Ghana designs and crafts this remarkable decorative jar, which features a mother holding her baby in her arms. The vessel is carved by hand from sese wood, and features a lidded jar on top of the women's head. The jar is engraved with the gye nyame adinkra symbol, which represents the omnipotence of God.
Adinkra symbols are visual symbols used by the Asante peoples of Ghana. They represent common philosophies or proverbs, which have an important role in West African culture.
