Inspired by the artistic traditions of the Moche people, Walter Jose Acosta crafts a handsome huaco sculpture of a warrior. Huacos were crafted to make a portrait of somebody famous, like this warrior with an eagle headdress to symbolize his reverence for nature. Eagles, amongst other Andean birds, represented power. The ceramic sculpture is crafted by hand and treated to a specialized finish to create an antique illusion.

"Exceptional craftsman at work"

A most famous Moche stirrup vessel at the Larco Herrera museum in Lima is now available to anyone since Walter Acosta applied his talents in making a replica. Correct clay and thickness, exact detail of artwork and paint used. Special aging process is unheard of. I have seen many replicas since 1975 but this appears ancient original. Professional packing & Shipping. Thanks to Senor Acosta and NOVICA. Michael Garland, Lake Stevens, Washington USA

"Beautiful conversation piece"

I bought this as a gift for myself to always remember the birth of my daughter and the beauty of delivering with a midwife. Having this piece in my home creates an opportunity to share this history and my connection to the story it tells.

This work is of the highest quality, a detailed reproduction of Nasca form and iconography unmatched not only in its aesthetic quality but also as a tool for the close-up study of typified Nasca figural representation.

"Phantastic work!"

My warmest Thanks to Walter Jose Acosta for this incredible and wonderful piece of art! Through my work as a film director, I came into contact with Nazca culture and was immediately enchanted and excited. These vessels are truly empathetic and authentically designed replica that resurrect this extinct culture. Many thanks to Walter for this time travel!
