African wood mask, "Sankofa"

With half-closed eyes and opened mouth, this black and red mask features a protruding Sankofa on the forehead. Inspired by cranes that turn their heads backwards on their bodies to sleep, Sankofa is the Adinkra symbol that encourages learning from past experience.
