Mexican Handblown Glassware

NOVICA artisans Javier Gutierrez and Efren Canteras create Mexican Handblown Glassware that is seared with the reflected light of the Mexican landscape. They utilize lead free, untempered and recycled glass to produce brilliant glassware and decorative pieces. Each of their handmade pieces is unique and all bear the hallmark of handblown glass. The pontil that results when the glass is broken from the blowing pipe and the tiny bubbles that are trapped within the glass walls. At their workshop, Javier attends to design while Efren handles production. Like guild craftsmen of old they employ young artisans as assistants. For over thirty years they have preserved and passed on the magnificent heritage craft of Mexican handblown glassware. Efren sums up the duo’s passion: “ l love blown glass because of the pure imagination poured into every piece created.”
