Rings from Thailand

Note the influence of Karen Hill Tribe’s rich tradition of silverwork together with Thailand’s proficiency in cutting and polishing precious gemstones in this enormous collection of rings from Thailand. While many modern Thai artisans have traded traditional jewelry making techniques for faster, easier, manufacturing processes, artisans in this collection choose to practice ancient customs and work by hand the way countless generations before them have. Artisan couple Achara and Withaya Cheunjit employ all facets of Thai jewelry making history in their work. “We use high purity silver, which is handmade by skilled silversmiths, especially by our good friends, the hill tribe people,” Withaya says. “We make most of our own designs, but we also integrate various designs of tribal origin.” Achara uses her talents to create silver rings for women among other types of jewelry, whereas Withaya prefers working with ornate silver beads and gemstones in his rings.
