Brazilian Abstract Painting, "Encounter II"
Seen as abstract images, lovers meet, drawn together in a moment that seems eternal. Working in grey and icy white against a background of passionate crimson, Urbano seems to literally freeze the image in time and space.
Titled "Encontro II" in Portuguese.
Signed Expressionist Freddie Mercury Painting from Bali, "We Will-We Will Rock You"
For this intriguing painting, Balinese artist Anton Papo draws inspiration from Freddie Mercury, the lead singer from Queen. Papo paints the mustachioed singer in an expressionist style as he characteristically holds a microphone stand above his head. The painting reads "We will we will rock you." Says the artist, "I visualize the rock star Freddie Mercury in action. Queen's music had great harmonies, like a synchronicity of rock music and art. In the end, he died from the frightening disease AIDS. RIP Mr. Legend."
Signed Modern Father and Son Painting from Bali, "Me and My Dad Are Not the Same"
This freestyle painting by Balinese artist Anton Papo reveals the artist's personal, yet whimsical nature. Side-by-side, Papo and his father smile for the viewer beneath the inscription "aku tidak mirip my dad," a combination between two languages that means "me and my dad are not alike." The artist draws inspiration from the relationship he shares with his father, remarking that our differences should be cherished.
