By Wilson Aboagye, this sculpture is designed in the form of a mask. It depicts a lady from Ghana who wears her hair in tiny braids while a tall, slender bird poses atop her head. "I carved this sculpture to tell about the good deeds of a woman named Obaa Yaa. She is able to mobilize the women of the village and arrange for training programs to empower them economically. She is a role model to the people of her village. She is easily approached, caring and loving. This is what the world needs from our leaders," he explains.

"Perfect for Sanctuary"
The title of the item was very important to me, as well as how the piece would fit into my personal sanctuary of African and Jamaican art.
