By Erika Ulloa, this enchanting nativity scene is set in the Peruvian highlands. The artisan crafts the wooden box to house this retablo or diorama and paints it in vivid colors. The figures are carefully modeled from clay and painted by hand.

"Christ, the Prince of Peace"
With her usual consummate artistry and imagination, Erika Ulloa offers a prayer for peace in her depiction of the birth of the Christ Child changing soldiers from agents of war into bringers of aid and comfort. For me at least, this takes just another nativity scene in my collection to an instrument of contemplation and of motivation for working for social change. It is a true work of art, that changes the viewer.

"La Tunantada"
Erica Ulua brings both great imagination and great skill to her retablos. La Tunantada is the fourth of her lovely works that I have purchased. All have been been nativity scenes of one sort or another.
