Wine Colored 100% Baby Alpaca Knit Ruana Cape from Peru, "Afterlight"

Wilfredo Herencia presents a ruana made from deliciously soft baby alpaca fibers in shades of wine and indigo. Proud of the knitting tradition of his Andean homeland, the artisan says, "What led to my interest in this art form is without a doubt the alpaca...a resource that our ancestors used...today I want to continue this legacy that has such significance". The way the wrap's contrasting colors are knit creates the appearance of a paved road; burgundy-colored borders delineate the open front of the enchanting ruana which can be worn like a poncho or a shawl. The wrap can also be draped over one or both shoulders to create looks both casual and elegant. Baby alpaca refers to the fine fleece from the season's first shearing.
