Details
An abstract depiction of a sea of stalls, vendors, and passersby is presented in this painting by Ghanaian artist Kofi B. Awuyah. The Makola Market, a large market place in the country's heavily populated capital city, serves as the inspiration for the acrylic on canvas work. Using expressive brushwork and bright colors such as cantaloupe, fire engine red, and goldenrod, the artist seeks to convey the everyday sight of a sprawling shopping area teeming with people and wares.
