West African Cotton Batik Wall Hanging in Orange and Brown, "African Woman III"

Bearing her burdens with aplomb, a West African woman goes about the day's tasks. This excellent one-of-a-kind cotton wall hanging is the work of Gladys Ayorkor Ayi, who uses time-honored batik techniques to create the artwork. Designs are painted on fabric with wax, and then the fabric is dyed to achieve the desired pattern. These steps are repeated with different colors until the scene is complete.
