Tall palm trees stand like handsome sentinels of nature underscored by Brazil's golden skies. "In 1961, the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park (Cavalcante) was composed of an area of 625,000 hectares and had the name of Tocantins National Park, in reference to the hydrographic basin in which it is located," says João Paulo Barbosa as he provides the context to this admirable photograph. "The park currently has its limits defined within 60,000 hectares in order to concentrate conservation efforts. Because of the great number of natural fountains and rivers within the perimeter of the park, it received the name 'Birthplace of Waters.' The park's main office is in the small city of São Jorge, a former mining village that currently lives off of the tourism in the region."
Featuring a white border, the photograph is printed on Crystal Archive Fuji paper.
