Designed to create a rattling sound when shaken, this traditional caixixi is offered by Jo Percussivo in Brazil. A gourd is covered with natural junco fiber that is diligently woven by hand. Plastic beads inside the gourd create sound. To play this instrument, hold the gourd in one hand with its flat surface facing downward. Simple shake up and down and the plastic beads within will create a rhythm.
It is not recommended that this instrument be held via the handle when shaken.
