Signed Cultural Abstract Painting from Guatemala (2018), "Sun, Moon, Rebirth"

Working in a unique abstract style, Guatamalan artist Jose Coutiño uses colorful, waving forms to depict a group of women in traditional pre-Hispanic dress alongside creamic jars. This beautiful painting brings with it an air that is at once contemporary and historic. Says the artist, "The sun shows us that its force is born from its center...The moon teaches us that in life there will be cycles where we will not always receive what we desire, but there will always be opportunities for change. Both represent that in reality nothing ends; it only transforms, just as we should do ourselves."
