Thailand's Rawat Vongla superimposes glowing lanterns over a pagoda and Buddha statue to depict Yee Peng, the Lantern Festival. Yee Peng is unique to Northern Thailand, and celebrated on the full moon of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar--usually in November. The act of releasing the lanterns symbolizes the surrender of misfortune and ill will from the previous calendar year.
