Ushering young women into adulthood, Dipo is a traditional festival celebrated by the people in Odumase, Ghana. Eric Kwafo creates this wall sculpture, hand-carved from sese wood to depict a male dipo dancer in full regalia. Given a shiny black finish, the dancer wears a brown skirt around his waist with red bands decorating his limbs. He holds a ritual sword in one hand as he dances.
