Abdulai Osman Adam works diligently to become the best at his craft, hand-carving this African mask of local sese wood in the shape of a round face. He paints the mask in colors of blue, red, and black, adding wavy line motifs around the perimeter and accents of embossed aluminum sheet. The mask is named Kari, a Hausa word meaning "protection."
