Recycled Carton and Cocoa Leaf African Mask from Ghana, "Choices"

Inspired by the choices that we have to make throughout our lives, Ghanaian artisan Ed Frankling Gavua creates this intriguing and awe-inspiring mask. Crafted by hand from recycled carton, this eco-friendly, unique mask depicts a face with a prominent, textured nose. A padlock secures the mask's lips together. Gavua uses cocoa leaves to create the impressive texture of this mask. He says, "Life is full of choices. Just select what is good for you, but we will all account for our actions and inaction."
