"perfect."
so soft and colors so vibrant. This robe washes beautifully and just gets softer and softer. My ONLY criticism is the sleeves have a bit too much fabric. I find I get them caught on things and they tend to get in my way. Other then that minor problem this robe is terrific. I bought 2 as gifts and they are beloved by my friends.

"beautiful batik robe"
This being my first purchase from Novica, I was so pleased. Not only is this robe unique it is even more lovely in person than the picture. Cant wait for winter to be over so I can wear it. Also, the packaging --- the sweet bag it came in, the notecard from the artist just really warmed my heart. Thank you!

"These brightly colored flags decorate my newly built deck!"
I love these flags! They are brightly colored and show detailed chakra symbols. When the breeze is not waving them around I like looking at the various mandalas.

For eleven years Desak worked with a batik artisan learning all aspects of the process, from wax painting to dyeing. From her, she learned not only the art of batik and textile design but also how to care for her workers. In her workshop, Desak and the older artisans generously teach their art to the younger artisans, preserving for another generation this UNESCO cultural treasure.
Microcredit Financing
Desak Nyoman Parwati has received 3 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $2800 and the most recent for $4000. Proceeds were used to invest in the purchase of textiles and batik dyes to increase production in time for the holiday season.

Through perseverance, Desak has grown her workshop. She now employs members of her family and give jobs to other artisans in her community.
