Details
Deriving from the Indonesian word perang, which means "slope," parang is a traditional batik motif that depicts a series of sword-like forms. Against a body of midnight, parang motifs in snow white decorate this lovely cotton scarf. Presented by Mirelle Georgette of Java, this scarf is decorated using the batik method, where a wax resist is stamped onto the fabric before it is submerged in dye. This scarf's width allows it to double as a shawl.
