Dressed in gossamer white, ballerinas dance together against a dramatic red backdrop. Lying on the floor, the man lifts his partner as she arches her lithe body. "My model is Stéphanie. With this painting, I intend to translate women's magical and innate power into colors," artist Otto Schaller says. "They carry out the loving relationships of every couple, in the family, in the home and in social settings. When we observe a couple dancing, the first impression is that the man is the strong center and that it is he who drives the show. Actually it is the woman, with her softness, delicacy and intelligence, who provides the rhythms, transforming the entire couple into beauty and enchantment. Here, each character practices different movements, separate movements, for the moment in opposite directions. Yet there is a group notion of union, of purpose and of harmony."
