Delivery EstimateWith bright colors and eye-catching designs, this decorative African mask will make a statement on your home or office wall. Ghanaian artisan Abdul Aziz Mohamadu hand carves the mask from sese wood, paints it black, then creates a stunning mosaic out of yellow, red, blue, and white recycled plastic beads to define the eyebrows, cheeks, nose, and chin. On the domed forehead the artisan arranged four brass triangles in a star motif framing a round sea pebble. The artisan titles this mask Emyinnaya, an Igbo word that means "father's friend."

"Beautiful mask"
This mask has been hanging on the wall in our living room for the past couple of years. It has a great finish and gives a warm, welcoming and interesting feel to the room. Very happy with it.

Abdul has four children of his own and and cares for an additional four. All eight children live with him and he treats them all as his own.
Job Creator
Abdul has a dream of establishing an art academy for carving and sharing the African culture that is so closely tied to wood carving. So far, he has trained over 30 people but hopes that number can grow to be in the hundreds with an academy.
Moving On Up
Since he started working with NOVICA, he has been able to grow his business. Through NOVICA and his determination, every day he gets a little closer to his goal of empowering and training others in carving.
