"The pre-Hispanic deity Quetzalcoatl, sometimes known as Kukulkan, united many different peoples. Legend says that Quetzalcóatl taught the Toltecs the silversmith's art. His symbol is the feathered serpent in this sterling silver pendant," Rosa Padilla, the artist behind Rosa Rojo, says. The image is cut through a sterling plate, then mounted on a second silver plate to give it added depth. "For my unity bracelet, I chose light blue, which represents serenity and peace, and is used in the flag of the United Nations. Its appearance in the macramé cord symbolizes the values that unite us as a nation and as members of humanity," the Mexican artisan concludes.
