"Half of Ecuador's population lives close to a volcano, and they honor Pachamamma, or Mother Earth daily," says Brazilian photographer João Paulo Barbosa with obvious admiration. "Ecuadorians transform the landscape and extremely fertile volcanic grounds into something sacred. In Lloa Valley, they use every available space for tillage, including the sharp hillsides. As a result, they form lush verdant quilts that provide potatoes, wheat, and vegetables."
Featuring a white border, the photograph is printed on Crystal Archive Fuji paper.
