Designed by Balinese artisan Desak Nyoman Parwati, this one-size-fits-most robe showcases unique patterns of purple, green and light blue floral motifs are achieved with a combination of batik, a resist dyeing technique, and tie-dyeing. "Just gorgeous"
This arrived this morning, and I am in love. It?s exactly what I?ve been looking for for years - it?s long, elegant, well-made and absolutely beautiful. The fabric is light and cool, moves easily and just flows. The colours are just something else - I?ve never seen a gown like it.I specifically wanted to review as I had been worried about the sizing. I am a UK size 14-16 and currently pregnant, so was looking for a gown to wear in hospital. Having done all the measurements I was worried this would be too small and nearly didn?t purchase. It is plenty big enough to wrap around, and once bump is huge then it can be worn open and still looks lovely.If you are hesitating - just go for it. Such a talented woman - thank you for my beautiful gown. I am already hunting for some more and they would make truly beautiful gifts for any mother-to-be, bride-to-be, anyone really!

"These brightly colored flags decorate my newly built deck!"
I love these flags! They are brightly colored and show detailed chakra symbols. When the breeze is not waving them around I like looking at the various mandalas.

For eleven years Desak worked with a batik artisan learning all aspects of the process, from wax painting to dyeing. From her, she learned not only the art of batik and textile design but also how to care for her workers. In her workshop, Desak and the older artisans generously teach their art to the younger artisans, preserving for another generation this UNESCO cultural treasure.
Microcredit Financing
Desak Nyoman Parwati has received 3 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $2800 and the most recent for $4000. Proceeds were used to invest in the purchase of textiles and batik dyes to increase production in time for the holiday season.

Through perseverance, Desak has grown her workshop. She now employs members of her family and give jobs to other artisans in her community.
