"Light, beautiful, and well-made!"
Im thinking of gifting friends with this item. It is really beautiful! Just as pictured. The blue dragonflies really look wonderful against the black, like an evening sky! I have bought two items from Novica, and have been very happy with both! This robe is beautifully stitched with real seams, (not a cheap serger) has pockets, and is lighweight for summer, with full, roomy coverage. Highly recommend!!

"Compliments Galore"
In the past, I was a textile artist using dye on silk. I no longer do it, but I appreciate fine craftsmanship, and the Rayon Batik Robe, Night Dragonflies certainly encompasses that. I know the process as to how it was made and its just a beauty! My husband (who isnt a batik fanatic like I am) really loves it when I wear it. As we live in northern California, I can wear it at least 6 months out of the year and it does the job of keeping me covered. The length is excellent for me. I am 57, 165 lbs and its perfect in the length.

"These brightly colored flags decorate my newly built deck!"
I love these flags! They are brightly colored and show detailed chakra symbols. When the breeze is not waving them around I like looking at the various mandalas.

For eleven years Desak worked with a batik artisan learning all aspects of the process, from wax painting to dyeing. From her, she learned not only the art of batik and textile design but also how to care for her workers. In her workshop, Desak and the older artisans generously teach their art to the younger artisans, preserving for another generation this UNESCO cultural treasure.
Microcredit Financing
Desak Nyoman Parwati has received 3 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $2800 and the most recent for $4000. Proceeds were used to invest in the purchase of textiles and batik dyes to increase production in time for the holiday season.

Through perseverance, Desak has grown her workshop. She now employs members of her family and give jobs to other artisans in her community.
