Designed and crafted by Emmanuel Atiemoh Yeboah, this artwork from Ghana depicts a trio of African women. One sits on a tray, one carries a tray full of foodstuffs, and the third carries an empty tray, her child slung over her back. The artist achieves this folk art composition using a variety of techniques. He utilizes the batik method to decorate several bits of cotton cloth, using a combination of colorful dyes with a wax resist. He then hand-cuts the designs into the artwork, replacing the cut-out portions with the colorful cloth that suggests the image of the women. This stunning piece of home decor arrives in a redwood frame.
