This original and impressive sculpture by Indonesian artisan Wayan Rendah invites us to leave our unrest behind. Holding one hand in a symbol of meditation, Buddha sits in a cross-legged posture, carefully carved by hand from a single piece of hibiscus wood. A stunning attention to detail is lavished over Buddha's hair and flowing clothes, and the back of the sculpture is allowed to showcase the hibiscus wood's natural form, representing the things we leave behind while meditating.

"Just beautiful"
The Buddha sculpture looks even better in real life. I just unpacked it, and a neighbor who happened to stop by saw it sitting on the table and assumed it was a real antique. I didn t try to correct her :)

"Beautiful Buddha"
Well-carved Buddha statue. Not an understatement to describe the artist who created it as a master carver. A beautiful, elegant, serene and meditative image of the Buddha. The perfect addition to any room. Nice on a shelf or your desk. A truly wonderful item.

I love looking at this sculpture. It calms my soul. The wood is so very hard yet so soft to the touch. Wayan Rendah is brilliant. I have four of his carvings!
