Designed to create a rattling sound when shaken, this traditional caixixi is offered by Jo Percussivo in Brazil. Two gourds are arranged side-by-side and covered with natural junco fiber that is diligently woven by hand. Plastic beads inside the gourds create sound. To play this instrument, hold the gourds in one hand with their flat surfaces facing downward. Simple shake up and down and the plastic beads within will create a rhythm.
It is not recommended that this instrument be held via the handle when shaken.
