Delivery EstimateLithe graceful dancers perform the Marinera dance in this vivid sculpture by John Barrow. "It's part of my 'Folklore' series inspired by this beautiful country and its regional traditions," says Barrow with admiration. Originating from northern Peru, the Marinera recreates the sea of emotions surrounding flirtation, attraction and falling in love. It can be danced individually or in couples, and performers hold handkerchiefs in sign of peace. Barrow works with hand-carved segments of cedar, mahogany and ishpingo woods, which he dyes with natural pigments.

"Stunning craftsmanship and creativity"
This is such a beautiful creche. We give our children nativity sets when they marry and this is the set my son and daughter-in-love selected. I can not wait to see their faces when they open it. I also got the wall/window for a background.

"Exqusite and dynamic!"
I have a lot of folk art, including a number of other pieces from John Barrow, and I am mostly only interested in depictions of animals, plants, and geometric forms, not humans. However the colors of the womens dress, combined with the condor, make this one of only a handful of pieces I have in my collection depicting humans, and I am extremely happy with it! One thing I realized I especially love about this piece is the dynamism that comes from having the condor sticking out away from the pieces center of gravity.
