Javanese artisan Farida Ridwan handcrafts this beautiful russet brown leather handbag with contrast stitching done by hand. The exterior is hand stamped and painted with a garden scene, including green and red flowers and lovely butterflies. The ample interior is lined with brown polyester suede and has two open pockets and one zippered pocket set into the lining. The fold-over flap secures the main compartment with a buckle. The handbag also comes with a detachable shoulder strap.
The handbag is made with vegetable-tanned leather, for which the artisan offers specific care suggestions. Avoid contact with water as vegetable-tanned leather is less water resistant than conventional leathers. If a damp cloth is needed for cleaning, take care that it is only slightly damp. Avoid using shoe care brushes and polishes for maintaining the bag as they are not suitable for vegetable-tanned leather. Test any weather-proofing or conditioning creams on an inconspicuous corner prior to use.
