George Alfred Frempong of Ghana handcrafts this decorative blessing mask of sese wood. The rounded forehead is half golden yellow and half earth tones. The cheeks and nose have the same split color palette with the golden yellow section of the cheeks diagonally across from the yellow part of the forehead, and the yellow on the nose being freeform dots. Wide open eyes and a large, smiling mouth complete the face. A long cascade of jute string composes the beard. This African mask is rubbed with clay to give it an aged finish then polished with the meat of the kola nut.
