Adinkra-Themed Wood Decorative Accent from Ghana, "Adinkra Gua Sika"
Representing authority, the golden chair is an important symbol in African culture. Ghanaian artist Winfred Korley creates this decorative accent, which is hand-carved from sese wood in the shape of a curved sword. A symbol resembling a throne stool decorates the blade, while goat hair accents the pommel. This piece is named Adinkra Gua Sika, meaning "symbol of the golden chair" in the Akan language.

"Visions, Culture, History"

Beautiful piece of functional art. It is displayed in my entry hall, with African artifacts I have collected over the years, and never fails to elicit comments from people entering my home. I love that it doesnt really look too new, so it fits in with the theme of older items. Too, the size is perfect.

"Nice space saver"

The table is beautiful and in the spirit of the Adrinka. I love it. However, know this: 1) the table is very light, it easily slips on hard floors and could tip in the process 2) it is not carved out of a block as more ancient artifacts, but of three distinct pieces assembled by screws 3) it is not totally even, so if you place it on a hard floor, you ll have to rig it so it does not wobble

"Charming Wood Sculpture"

This is a very interesting wood sculpture from West Africa. Her dress is made from local fabric which is colorful and her matching earrings and necklace complete the outfit I love Novica's collection of wood statues as they are always authentic and very appealing. Rochelle New Jersey
