Delivery EstimateMade by an artisan group of weavers in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, this dark blue cushion cover is a high quality textile made with a foot loom. The artisans are very interested and passionate about the preservation of the use of the foot loom to make textiles; another goal of theirs is to educate more women in this art and process, as historically the foot loom has been used mostly by men. This dark blue cushion cover features the same design on the front as on the back: thin looped lines in different shades of blue and gray. The back of the cushion has slit in which to insert the cushion.

"Nice Fabric"
Thick deep navy with lighter colored accents make this a perfect match in my bedroom. No zipper, just a fold over opening on the back.

"Nice, but not quite what I expected."
It must be the word shawl, because I thought this would have more weight to it. It looks more like a table runner, which is how I will probably use it. It is quite pretty.

Preserving Traditions
The association prides itself on protecting and preserving the very long-standing tradition of weaving using a floor loom. The women have all learned this technique from their mothers or grandmothers, and plan to teach their daughters as well.
Confronting Adversity
Unfortunately many women in this area have been affected by miscarriages and the loss of newborns. This can cause a woman to go into a deep depression. Together they overcome these tragic events and provide constant support for one another.
Enabling Education
Thanks to the work of these women, their children have the opportunity to study and have a better future. As an association, part of their income is donated to school infrastructure.

The association has been able to grow and increase their sales, which is then passed along to the women and their families.
